Founded by architects and entrepreneurs David Palmer and Simon Whelan, FenestraPro has developed a suite of BIM software solutions to provide the tools and information needed to guide architects and other building design professionals in designing better performing building façades to meet their design intent.
FenestraPro’s software has quickly grown to become the most complete and sophisticated set of tools that a building designer can use to incorporate energy-efficient design principles from the earliest point in the design process through to the building design project. Easy-to-use and fully integrated within Revit, FenestraPro can read directly from the model and write the optimal design solution back to the model to automatically generate changes to the model.
FenestraPro for Revit guides on the optimization of the thermal, solar and daylighting requirements of the façade, and provides a detailed understanding of how key façade design decisions will affect the building’s performance to reduce energy consumption and improve occupant comfort.
FenestraPro’s leading design tools has attracted the attention of leading industry partners, including Autodesk, as well as top global architectural firms such as Gensler, Aecom and Skidmore Owens & Merrill.
FenestraPro Management Team
Chief Executive Officer
David is an Architectural Technologist and Façade Engineer with research interests in performance-based design to reduce energy consumption and improve occupant comfort.
Prior to founding FenestraPro David ran a successful architectural practice, Palmer Whelan & Associates, with Simon Whelan. The practice was based in Dublin, Ireland, overseeing a number of high-profile projects, including at Dublin Airport and Radio Telefis Eireann (RTE, the Irish National Broadcasting company) as well as for a diverse range of clients.
Since 2001 David has worked as a Lecturer and Research Supervisor in the Dublin School of Architecture, TU Dublin.
David previously conceptualised, established and successfully built BuildOnline, which, at the time, was Europe’s leading online software solution for the Property and Construction Industry.
Chief Operating Officer
Simon’s primary qualification is as an Architectural Technologist and has previously has worked in a number of practices both in Ireland and Australia.
Simon holds a Masters in Architecture, in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies (MSc Arch AEES), University of East London, UK. Simon also worked as a part-time Lecturer in Dublin City VEC, teaching in Environmental Studies, Building Technology and Sustainable Energy Studies.
Simon co-founded an architectural practice, Palmer Whelan & Associates, with David Palmer working on projects for private clients as well as large corporates and semi-state bodies.
Simon’s research areas are in environmental and energy efficient design, daylighting, heat loss methods & materials and occupant comfort.
